North Herts Schools Book Awards

We headed out into the sunshine with a group of Library Goblins to take part in the North Herts School Book Awards at Hitchin Boys' School.
The pupils met up with students from eight other schools for some lively discussions about the shortlisted books and then voted for their favourites. While the votes were being counted, the students were entertained by an engaging and informative talk by comedian, author and broadcaster, Robin Ince, who spoke about his love of books and reading, and his experiences of writing. There was an opportunity to buy signed books from last year's winning authors courtesy of Next Page Books and some well-deserved refreshments.
We are pleased to announce that the winning books for the NHSBA 2025 were Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell and Glasgow Boys by Margaret McDonald. Our thanks to the librarians of Hitchin Boys' School for organising this wonderful event, to Robin Ince for his entertaining talk and to the pupils who took part for their impeccable behaviour - they were a credit to the school.
