SCHOOL NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Good afternoon,
Not only is today the last day of the half-term but it's also the last official day in school for our Year 11s. This morning we celebrated their time with us, with pastries, squash, shirt-signing and photos. It was a welcome break in what has been a period of very hard work and now, the majority of students are over the halfway mark in terms of the exams they have to sit. As I have been saying in recent weeks, I continue to be impressed with the approach the Year 11s and Year 13s are taking with the exams this summer, and I couldn't be more proud of their attitude and efforts.
Away from exams, Year 10s have been enjoying a number of events, with Herts University's Festival of ideas, the Generation Stevenage careers event and our Sports Leaders braving the rain to lead another session. The students I have spoken with have been so positive about the experiences, it has been inspiring.
As we are about to enter the final half-term there is much to look forward to, including Founders' Day, Sports Day, the Gym and Dance Display, Enterprise activities, the Art and Tech show, Form Running, the year group trips and more - it's set to be another busy yet amazing end to the year.
Looking further ahead, there is something on the horizon that is a source of huge excitement... we have announced the HGS School Production for 2025... The Addams Family!!! I can't wait!
Thank you for your ongoing support of the school and all we do, and have a great week.
James Crowther, Headteacher

Lanterns for Vesak Day
Saheli in Y8 very kindly volunteered to run a lantern-making workshop for the Buddhist Vesak Day. Students loved learning about this major festival celebrating the life and legacy of the Buddha. Happy Vesak Day to all those who mark this day.

Our first game of golf! These students took part in our first ever Golf Sixes competition on Friday, and played very well on a par 3 course. Hopefully there will be more golf for us in our future.

Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is offering a free online ‘Managing Study Stress’ webinar for students who are aged 16+, which covers some of the key content delivered in our in-person workshop.
The webinar offers insights into the common triggers and symptoms of stress and provides guidance on cognitive and behavioural techniques which students can learn and use themselves to tackle these symptoms. These skills can be particularly helpful for students as they are preparing for their exams and/or completing coursework. The webinar will next run on the following dates:
Please note this webinar is open to the public and those attending will be anonymous.
